Dr. Simone B. Chun received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Chun has more than 20 years of experience in teaching at Liberal Arts colleges in the United States, has been a central contributor to the creation of a number of interdisciplinary Asian and Korean Studies programs, and currently lectures at Northeastern University. As an independent activist, Dr. Chun is striving to create a much-needed global nexus between grassroots human rights and peace movement activists in Korea and scholars and NGOs around the world. Dr. Chun sits on the Steering Committee for the Alliance of Scholars Concerned about Korea, and is an active member of both the Korea Policy Institute and the Korea Peace Network. Dr. Chun has published and was interviewed widely in progressive media such as The Hankyoreh, TruthOut, CounterPunch, and The Real News. As an independent researcher-activist, Dr. Chun served as an Associate in Research at Harvard University’s Korea Institute, and presented her research concerning peace building on the Korean Peninsula at numerous invited conferences, such as The Korean Studies Center at USC, Center for Asian and Pacific Studies at Lingnan University, and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for International Scholars.
